Undefeated Hillfoots/Bannockburn U16s

Hillfoots/Bannockburn U16s traveled to Forfar with confidence

The scene was set for a great day of rugby with a warm welcome from Strathmore RFC and Hillfoots traveling support team!

Before conversation could start on the sidelines the away team broke the deadlock with an excellent display of quick hands from the backs spinning the ball out wide to winger Mark McKinnon who dived over for the first try. With the forwards winning some great scrum and lineout ball the backs were soon adding to the total with Martin McNee,  Cailean Baird-Chalmers and Gavin Ross all going over for tries. The away forwards were soon on the front foot again and after winning some great ruck ball Niall McKenzie dived over for another score. After this the visitors were running freely with another score by Ross Currie and shortly after Lachlan Peterson dotted down underneath the posts.

The referee called halftime and Hillfoots/Bannockburn went in with heads held high.

After bringing lads back down to earth from halftime team talk, HRFC/BBRFC were soon on the offensive with Niall McKenzie going over for his second try of the day.

The referee called a halt after only 10mins into the second half as Strathmore had no answer to the power and clinical finishing of the away team. The coaches had a quick discussion and they mixed the teams up and carried on with a training game to ensure everybody played.

The final score was 54-0. The Strathmore coaches picked Kirk Higgins & Robbie Mitchell as their men of the match.

Hillfoots/Bannockburn should find it harder next Sunday when they play hosts to Kirkcaldy.
