Hillfoots/Bannockburn 75 – 15 Blairgowrie
Hillfoots/Bannockburn started playing up hill in the first half and straight away had Blairgowrie under pressure. After just 5 mins Cailean Baird-Chalmers out paced the Blairgowrie defence to score in the corner. With Hillfoots/Bannockburn winning some great ball from the line outs, the backs spread the ball wide and were rewarded with a try from both wingers Mark McKinnon and Ryan Kenny. In the scrums, the home team were dominant with the front row of Naill McKenzie, Iain Medhurst and Mark Alexander taking 2 or 3 against the head.
Blairgowrie pulled a converted try back after 15mins but Hillfots/Bannockburn came right back up the park and with another great surge at a scrum Kirk Higgins dived over for a converted try. Cailen Baird-Chalmers and Kirk Higgins added 2 more tries before half time.
With Hillfoots/Bannockburn playing down hill in the second half, the forwards got onto the score sheet with David Harvey, Lachlan Peterson and Ryan Kenny running in 3 tries between them. The home team had brought both of their subs on at half time and Aaron Anderson was not going to be out done by his team mates and continued to take 2 or 3 strikes against the head in the scrums.
Blairgowrie pulled another try back but then lost a couple of players to injury leaving them with just 14 men. Robbie Mitchell volunteered to help them out and played the rest of the game on the wing for Blairgowrie putting in some great tackles and some great runs up the wing.
Blairgowie tried everything to come back into this game but every time their backs got the ball Gavin Ross was there with a crunching tackle and winning the ball back. The same man got his name on the score sheet with a great individual effort which David Harvey converted, With Martin McNee running in a well worked try and Cailean Baird-Chalmers adding another the final score was 75-15. The backs might have scored the bulk of the tries back it was the hard work of the forwards like Jamie Hunter, Callum Hood and special K that won the good ball to let the back get the space they needed.
Hillfoots/Bannockburn have another home game next week against Waid Academy FP. This game will be played at Bannockburn.
