Tillicoultry Community Week – starting Monday 13 August!!!

On Monday 13 August, the  Tillicoultry Community week kicks off.

19 local groups and organisations are getting involved with an exciting week of Free Community events in Tillicoultry from 13-19 August.

The Tillicoultry Community Week has been coordinated by Tillicoultry Baptist Church and Tillicoultry Devonside and Coalsnaughton Community Council and a great variety of local groups and businesses are providing free events during the week, and Clacks Council has also given some valuable help.

The events include introductory sessions in circus skills, bike maintenance, card making, Zumba, scone making, golf, rugby, dance and musical theatre. For younger children there are Toddlers Ceilidh Fun, Music and Movement, a magic show and a Film afternoon. There are also music events, a Ceilidh, a breakfast and barbecue events. A group of people from Crevecouer in France which Tillicoultry has strong links with will be visiting during the week and they will be introducing people to French Boules. For seniors there will be an afternoon tea and entertainment as well as a warm welcome to many other events.

On Saturday 18 there will be a Family Ceilidh run by the Twins and Toddlers groups.  There will also be a Historical exhibition in the Library, a drawing competition and Open Days at the Allotments and Forefront Studios.  There are plans for a big concert “Tilly in the Park” on the Friday evening provided permissions are granted for it to go ahead.  Local people are also being invited to help clean up parts of the town on the Monday evening and Saturday.

As you will see, there is something for everybody and local people will enjoy the events put on for free by local groups and businesses. Our hope is that through Learning, Volunteering and Fun there can be a greater sense of community in Tillicoultry.

This promises to be a great week in Tillicoultry and we are extremely grateful for all the people who are providing events and resources.
