Hillfoots 7-40 Mackie
Hillfoots slipped deep into the relegation zone after a fourth straight defeat, this time at the hands of fellow strugglers Mackie. Hillfoots find themselves with the difficult task of travelling to Orkney next week needing a bonus point win to give them any chance of survival in the Caldedonia National League 1.
Hillfoots didn’t play badly on Saturday, but were punished with every mistake. Too often ‘Foots tried the offload or pass when it would have been better to hold onto the ball. The heavy pitch made things difficult, but it was the home side who adapted better. Four 1st half tries saw Mackie sitting comfortable at half time.

The second half was more even, but Hillfoots efforts to play open rugby was to be their downfall, forcing the pass when it would have been better holding on and setting up the ruck. Derek Paterson crossed the line for ‘Foots with Jamie Murchie converting to give the visitors a consolation score..
