Hillfoots 39-0 Glenrothes.
Hillfoots maintained their unbeaten run with a workmanlike performance against Glenrothes. Hillfoots kicked off downhill and soon had their visitors under pressure, however over eagerness and a greasy ball combined to keep the Glenrothes line intact. From the outset Hillfoots dominated the scrummage with Hunter, McIntosh and Slade giving their opposite numbers a torrid time, pushing Glens back and disrupting almost all of their ball. The game sprang into life after a bout rugby tennis. Ian Nicolson fielded the ball from a Glenrothes kick and set up an attack. The ball was shipped along the line through Doyle, Paterson and Hamilton before reaching Alexander Cameron who’s pace took him clear of the defence. Andrew Hamilton was next on the score sheet, coming in at a nice angle to cut through and juggle the ball over under the posts. With the scrum dominant, a stike against the head saw Chris Beetham pick up and power his way over from the ’22 leaving a trail of would be tacklers behind.Cameron collected his second and the bonus point after once again outstripping the visiting defence. Gregor Manson kicked 2 conversions.

Any hopes of a comeback for Glenrothes were dashed shortly after the restart. Ball was turned over and ‘Foots headed up field. Ball was recycled quickly and once ‘Foots got in behind the Glens defence there was no one to stop Cameron collecting his third of the day. Glenrothes were trying hard to get their backs into the game, but with very little quality ball and a Hillfoots defence that was in no mood to leak any scores, their chances to run were few and far between.The game got a bit scrappy for about 20 minutes. Hillfoots rang the changes and the game sparked back into life.Ali Page,Craig Manson and Sandy Hewitt replace Doyle,Mcculloch and McIntosh who’d all ran themselves into the ground. Daryl Lindsay then replaced Parry, but his appearance was short lived as the young flanker damaged his shoulder making a tackle.Eric Hewitt then replaced Kenny Paterson. The ball was starting to flow again and Hamilton collected his second of the day, jinking his way through a flagging Glens defence. Hillfoots were finishing the game the stronger and the work rate of the forwards, especially Davie Cree was excellent. The final change came with Sandy Penman replacing Chris Beetham, who’s carries had gained Hillfoots countless yards all afternoon. ‘Foots finished with a flurry. Ball was turned over on the halfway and carried deep into the Gleans ’22. With the defence sucked in the ball was shipped along the line to Keith Slade who unselfishly off loaded to Sandy Penman lurking on the wing. The big man still had a bit to do but was too quick for the covering defence.
A good team performance with all 21 players doing their bit. Alexander Cameron was named Man of the Match.
