Calling all family members, to make our smooth operation run a bit smoother and to have a higher quality of coaching we need your help doing the odd task. The odd task can range from BBQ control, registers, strong lifters and efficient delegators!!

One of my main objectives this year is to create a parents’ committee at Hillfoots RFC. This committee will feedback to JP Ward regarding any parent issues to ideas which would benefit the club. The committee will also act as a bridge for parents between age groups to share vital rugby kit washing information or the best ways to get to ‘that club up north’. If you would like to be an ambassador of your son’s or daughter’s age group and be on the parents’ committee please contact me asap. I will also be asking a number of parents who I have worked with already to be the lead figures. But don’t worry there will be minimal work and lots of fun.
KIT – bags are now available
If you are struggling for gift ideas this Christmas your troubles are over! We now have in stock our new club kit bag. The bags will be available this Sunday and next at the Xmas party. The bag costs £25 , please email to reserve your bag or bags now.
If you have ordered kit and have not collected it please contact me asap. If you would like to order kit please email me your son’s or daughter’s sizes asap. Currently our kit lady is away on holiday, so please bear with us. To speed up the process please send me all orders and I will try and accommodate your needs to the best of my Kit finding/ordering/selling abilities.
If you have any old Hillfoots kit (tops, shorts or boots) which are in good condition please can you donate it back to the club. The reason why I ask you to do this is very simple. When we have such an influx of new players who don’t have any rugby kit and want to play, we loan it to give them a chance to be part of the team where ‘everybody plays’. In order for this to work we rely on your generous donations.
Movember – the tache off is this sunday
This November a number of our coaches will be sporting some outrageous facial hair to support and raise awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
At the end of November there will be a vote for the best and worst moustache. It will cost £1 to vote and all money will go to charity via the Movember website.

P1 to P7 Alva Academy – Indoor training
This Sunday our minis section is indoor at Alva Academy. The session starts 1000 and finishes at 1200. Please remember your trainers and warm clothes because some of you will be outside on the astro. Water bottles are also advised because it will get very warm when they are training inside.
Please bring your spare change to vote for the best tache which is all in aid of Movember.
Please could all award winners return their player of the week and tackler of the week trophies.

- Christmas Party is 9/12/12 at Alva Academy after training
Christmas Party Information
On the 9th of December the Minis and Youth Christmas party will be taking place at Alva Academy, after training. The party will start at 1200 and will end at 1330 in the Alva Academy Dinning Hall area. To make this a party we need: sandwiches, sausage rolls, cocktail sausages, mince pies, fairy cakes , chocolate, etc, etc and juice !! Parents and Grandparents please hear my call to bring one of the items above. We have over 130 kids and 20 plus coaches to feed so it will be a team effort!!
Thank you to parents who have confirmed that they are bringing food!! We still need more so please email asap.

The mighty S1/2 are away at Livingston RFC this weekend for an offload Key National Themes festival. Please meet at Hillfoots for 0830 , the convoy will be leaving at 0840. We will hope to arrive at Livingston for 0940 for a 1000 kick off.

Last Sunday our U18 Girls took on Cumnock in the Brew & Dolphin competition. Cumnock won the match but there were lots of positives to take from the game. We wish Cumnock all the best in the competition. This weekend the U18s are training at Alva Academy on the Astro.

First XV
Hillfoots 22-29 Orkney
Hillfoots unbeaten run at home ended in the mud at Tillicoultry on Saturday morning.The visitors coped much better with the heavy conditions and ran out deserved winners by 5 tries to 4.Orkney kicked off downhill and soon had ‘Foots under pressure.Good ball retention led to Orkneys first score.Hillfoots reponse was swift and Keith Slade reduced the lead with an unconverted score.Orkney hit back and increased their lead with another converted try.’Foots were working hard but Orkney were proving to be no pushovers.Hillfoots were putting together some good passages of play and eventually Paul Slade crashed over in the corner.With half time approaching and the slope in the second half beckoning, Hillfoots switched off and Orkney crashed over to go into the break with a 9 point lead.
Half-time 10-19
Hillfoots started the second half well but a lack of composure was to be their downfall.After battering the visitors line for 10 minutes, a fumble in the middle of the park was hacked upfield by Orkney and the visiting winger won the race to the line.From the kick off ‘Foots headed straight back into the visitors ’22.Pressure from the forwards resulted in a couple of penalties.Opting for the scrum Hillfoots eventually drove Orkney back for Gav Spowage to touchdown.Once again Hillfoots switched off and Orkney drove themselves upfield eventually crashing over in the top lefthand corner.At 29-15 Hillfoots were in danger of taking nothing from this game.From the kick off Hillfoots turned the ball over and drove deep into the visitors half.A couple of pick and gos later and the gap opened up for Gav Spowage to collect his second of the day and bonus try point.Gregor Manson slotted the all important conversion to give them a losing bonus point.
