Clackmannanshire Awards Ceremony

I am sure you are all aware Hillfoots RFC has one of the best coaching teams in the central region. How do we know this? Well I will tell you!

Hillfoots RFC has continued to grow at an astonishing rate over the last few years and we have had over 100 new members joined this season. The club has also been awarded club of the month by the Scottish Rugby Union and was the first club in Scotland to be accredited the PCS Bill McLaren award. This award focuses on giving all players the opportunity to play rugby in a positive and safe atmosphere, which is what Hillfoots RFC stands for. There has also been success in our senior teams. Our under 18s and second XV are currently riding high at the top of the league tables. Similar success has been carried right to the top of the club with our First XV currently sitting second behind Aberdeenshire in the RBS Caledonia Regional League Division One.

Hillfoots RFC is ascending to new heights and was nominated for 3 awards at the Clackmannanshire awards which took place on the 23rd of February 2012.  The categories were; Coach of the year, Young sports personality of the year, club team of the year.

Mike Robins was nominated for coach of the year because he has displayed incredible drive to push the club forward with the PCS Bill McLaren accreditation and for his fantastic work with Under 18s squad. His work in the junior section has been fantastic. Mike Power and Mike Robins in addition to a number of the junior coaches have been at the forefront of developing the section and have been the real key for the clubs re found family atmosphere. On behalf of Hillfoots RFC I would like to personally to thank Mike and all the coaches involved for the club’s recent and continuing success.

Aiden Fraser was nominated for Young sports personality of the year for the incredible season he is having at the club. Hillfoots RFC hopes Aiden will continue his development and progress into our senior teams. All of the Under 18s squad have developed mentally and physically this season into a highly skilled rugby team. With this development Hillfoots under 18s won club team of the year award. Hillfoots as a whole were also nominated for this award which shows real strength and depth in Hillfoots area!

I would like to say to everyone involved at the club well done so far but there is still a lot of work to be done!

Kind regards

JP Ward
