Bob Marfleet Memorial Cup Match

The mantle to front the ‘Bob Marfleet Memorial Cup’ was given this year to the veterans of Hillfoots Rugby Club the ‘Cast Tups’.  This game was fixed for Saturday 24 th August.  The opposing side was offered to our veteran friends up north; Brechin Bruces who gladly accepted our invitation.

The game got off to a scintillating start with the ‘Tupps’ solidly displaying their intended game plan.  Even with some early silly mistakes, the ‘Tupps’ rugby heads were firmly established.

With the ‘Tupps’ forwards relentlessly pressing forward, their backs soon got their way with the first try of the game.

With both sides agreeing to play three twenty minutes, rolling subs were very much in use.  Even some young blood in the Bruces side, they were unable to match the tenacity of the ‘Tupps’ dogmatic play.

The ‘Tupps’ aggression proved too much for the visitors who had to accept defeat: with five brilliant trys run in by, Alan ‘Boney’ Skilton…Stewart MacLean and in no doubt, man of the match, Dollar boy, Cameron Glasgow who run in three gifted trys.

Yet again, another great Saturday sporting spectacle held by Hillfoots Rugby Club at Tillicoultry Park.

Kind regards
