Hillfoots Weekly News 11 November

Last Week in Review

Last weekend saw the return of the infamous Halloween Party!  There were some fantastic costumes and some wicked party games – a great time was had by all – many thanks to the organisers and #everyone who turned up!
Congratulations to 1st XV player, Keith Slade, who was selected to play for Caledonia Reds in their fixture against South of Scotland Rugby at Bridgehaugh.  It was a great night for the Club, with former players Reyner Kennedy and Kris Burney also selected and making an appearance. In a gritty game, Caley dominated the first half, but it was South who ran away with it in the second, eventually closing it out 24-41.

This weekend the Rams are back in action after a hard fought match against Grangemouth last weekend.  We have laid on a bus to Crieff, s all our supporters can go along too!  It’s an early kick off so that we all can watch the Scotland v Samoa match.

The Club will be open for the International, not least so that you can cheer on former Hillfoots player Jamie Bhatti who is one of the uncapped players – fingers crossed that he will grace the pitch at some stage in the match!  We then are delighted to welcome back Kieran Fischer to the Club, who will be playing live from 5pm in the bar!  Hopefully we will be able to celebrate a great win!

The Rams – Hillfoots 2nd XV

Can’t fault the effort yet again – well done to everyone who pulled on a jersey for the Rams . It was obviously not a result we wanted, but again, we stuck in to the end and gave those big units a game.

This is a development league, and that’s what we’re doing. We’re getting better as the season goes on, and we’ve won half the games we’ve played…that’s an improvement on the last couple of seasons.

We’re only one win away from the top half of the table, and that’s where we want to be. I know not everybody can train, but the more of us we get down, the more we’ll get the results.

Unfortunately Grangemouth didn’t hang around long enough for us to do MOTM, so congratulations to Kev Aitken for a great performance at 10.
