- P1 – P2s (Tag Tigers) HOME training usual start at 10am
- P3s to P7s AWAY at Stewarts Melville RFC in Edinburgh – with three other clubs – note later time – KO at 12.30pm for 1pm
- S1/S2s – HOME fixture vs Strathendrick S1/S2s, usual start at 10am (note no away fixture at Grangemouth now as we do not have enough for two separate teams)
Hope you had a great day out last week! Yet another brilliant club trip to Murrayfield, over 155 families and kids saw Scotland battle hard, and fail miserably, but hey, that’s rugby! For me, our big club Sunday is what rugby is all about – a great morning playing in the sun, the fun of a big trip out, and the excitement of an International all in the same day!
This Sunday is our LAST outdoor games scheduled before me plan our move indoors to the Alva academy gym, so lets make the most of the fabulous mild and dry autumn we’ve had so far, which looks set to continue this Sunday. The Tag Tigers, P1s and P2s are at home again this Sunday, usual start time, but all the other mini’s are AWAY to Stewarts Melville RFC in Edinburgh.
Stew Mel is a fabulous club and one of the largest and oldest in the country. It is a measure of the increasing size, and more importantly respect, that Hillfoots is now achieving that we are able to play clubs such as this, so it would be very much appreciated if we had as many players as possible turn out for this fixture this Sunday. I know it is in Edinburgh, which is farther away than usual, and it is an afternoon kick off but please do make an effort to support this fixture.
If you have not been to Stew Mel RFC before, then here is a link to their location in Inverleith in Edinburgh:
This Sunday sees them inviting Kinross, Howe of Fife, and Preston Lodge RFCs as well as Hillfoots, so we should have ourselves a whole bucket load of rugby fun! Do please note that if you have a dog, then unusually, they are NOT allowed at Inverleith, so we have been asked to ask you to please leave them at home or walk them elsewhere. In addition we have been told that their clubhouse is closed this Sunday due to some repair work so they are unable to provide us with any food – however the choices nearby in Edinburgh are legion of course!
As I say, this will most likely be our last Sunday out in the fresh air (unless the weather is very kind to us next week) so do please make every effort to attend on Sunday to this excellent fixture at a lovely location J
Our S1/S2s enjoyed an fantastic run out against Stirling RFC last Sunday for those of you who watched. Despite losing by two tries, again, it is a wonderful indication as to how much all parts of Hillfoots have grown and progressed that we are more than holding our own against such supposedly larger clubs. This fixture was very positively received by both teams, and so we have already planned to have further fixtures against them this season as additions to our fixture list, to help both sides – S1s in particular - to develop further. There are a number of our last season’s P7s who have not turned out much for us this season, so we would love to see more of you come back and play for Hillfoots and help us achieve our ambition of a separate S1 and S2 team by the end of this season.
This Sunday we welcome Strathendrick RFC S1/S2s at home therefore, with training starting usual time of 10am and games against them from 10.30. We had hoped to have a second fixture as per our fixture list if we had been able to turn out two separate age group teams, but as this is not yet possible, we are sticking to the one fixture this Sunday and will sadly not be going to Grangemouth as well – so please make sure you are at HOME on Sunday!
Finally you will all be aware that our resident legend, coach and all round top Hillfoots man, JP Ward has been missing from us for the past two weeks now. JP has had a major operation on his knee last Monday and is still recovering at home from the surgery. I am sure he would hugely appreciate hearing from Hillfoots members to cheer him up while he recovers, so do please send him an email (firstname.lastname@example.org ) or a text ( 07909 537303) to cheer him up!!
Thanks all and see you on Sunday
